Clouds
Produced by New Studio on Broadway at NYU Tisch
While the world began grappling with the initial effects of COVID-19, I had the immense honor and pleasure of continuing on with a remote production of Clouds by Aristophanes with the Physical Acting Intensive at the New Studio on Broadway at NYU.
About: Strepsiades meets Socrates, who descends from the heavens in a basket. Socrates invites him to talk to the school's deities, goddesses he calls the Clouds. Clouds was first produced by Aristophanes in 423 B.C.E., at the Dionysia Festival in the city of Athens. This translation was inspired by a production by the London Small Theatre Company, which received its first U.K. public performance at the Shaw Theatre, London, in January 1990 and its first U.S. public performance at the Judith Anderson Theatre, New York, in May 1990.
This performance was presented May 5-9, 2020 via Vimeo Livestream. More information about how to view the show below.
At the beginning of July 2020, the company of Clouds came together for an exciting conversation about our process. Presented over Zoom Webinar, this two-day-long case study was a great opportunity to reflect and give others information about the way we decided to work. In addition to stage managing, I took on the role of Broadcast Coordinator as well as one of the many video editors that were instrumental in bringing this production online and accessible.
